This activity combines learning about your heart while making art that shows where the heart is. Curriculum Area Social/Emotional, Art, Fine Motor Skills Before You Start For each child, cut out the shape of a child using the large pieces of paper. Find space to tape each paper child to the wall so that the children can draw, paint, and glue on them. Cut a heart out of the fabric for each child. Let's Begin 1. Encourage each child to use paints, markers, or crayons to color their paper child. 2. After the children have colored their child, show where the heart would be inside the body. Give each child a fabric heart and help her glue it onto her paper child. 3. Allow children to decorate and place hearts wherever they like on the paper child. There is no right or wrong way. Then, encourage kids to touch and feel their hearts. Furthermore Talk about where the heart is located in the body and what its function is. Not only does it pump blood to keep us alive, it’s where we keep some of our deepest feelings.   Tweet Glue Any soft, textured fabric, such as chenille, velvet, or fake fur, preferably pink or red.
