ACTIVITY
Motorboat, Motorboat

This game is popular to play while changing a diaper. Even the youngest infants have excellent hearing and respond to rhythms and sounds. The back and forth motion of the legs helps develop body control and gross motor skills.

Before You Start
Lay the baby on his back on a soft surface. You can use a changing table, carpeted floor, or lay down a comfortable blanket.
Let's Begin
1. Take a hold of the baby's feet in your hands.

2. Start moving his feet back and forth, slowly at first and then faster.

3. Recite the following popular rhyme:
Motorboat, motorboat, go so slow
Motorboat, motorboat, go so fast
Motorboat, motorboat step on the gas! VROOOOOOM!

4. Watch to see if the baby starts to move his legs with you or push against you.
Furthermore
For variety, substitute in other methods of transportation, such as "airplane, airplane" or "bicycle, bicycle."
