Enjoying Music Throughout The Day
By Peter Stewart

Hark, hark the dogs do bark!

It’s morning!

The Itsy Bitsy Spider’s web sparkles in the soft sunlight.

Are you sleeping brother John? Sister Jeanne?

A bird begins to chirp.

It sings a little song

To help children rise and shine.

Polly put the kettle on!

The children arise from the warmth of their beds.

One two, buckle my shoe.

Get dressed, eat breakfast and greet the new day!

The school bus beeps its horn.

It sings a little song

To tell the children that it is time for school.

Heigh ho the derio!

The classroom buzzes with little voices.

Paintings are painted, books are read,

Songs are sung and dances are danced.

Hickory Dickory Dock!

Look at the time on the clock.

The bell rings.

It sings a little song

To tell children the day is done.

Sippity Sippity Sup!

Dinner is lively with lots of sounds.

The food is eaten,

The baths are taken.

And now it’s time for bed.

Good night. Sleep tight.

Hush a bye.

The parent sings their little song

To sweetly finish the evening.

Starlight, star bright

The parent watches and sees two eyes gently closed.

The children are now in Dreamland

With Little Boy Blue, under a hay stack

Or with the cow jumping over the moon.

The children’s dreams sing a little song

To help them fall fast asleep.
