ACTIVITY
What’s in the Ocean?

To make a discovery by myself is one of the joys of being a toddler. In this activity, toddlers can find out about the wide variety of life in the ocean, and do it by themselves.
Curriculum Area
Science
Before You Start
Set aside one example of each ocean item you have collected. Next, place the shells, sand dollars, and ocean creatures in the water.
Let's Begin
1. Talk about the many living things that live in the ocean. Show examples of each item that can be found in the ocean.

2. Ask children to pretend that the water table (or sink) is the ocean. Can they find creatures in the ocean? Children may need to take turns—two or three at a time.

3. As a child locates a creature, name it for the child and ask him/her to throw it back in the ocean.
