ACTIVITY
Penguins March

Introduce the amazing mating habits of penguins through reading and art. Not only will preschoolers be fascinated by these curious creatures, but they will enjoy the counting practice, as well.

Before You Start
No Preparation required
Let's Begin
1. Read together and talk about March of the Penguins.

2. Challenge children to help make their own line of penguins. Ask each child to pick a number (between 4 and 10 works best) while you write the number on the corner of the paper.

3. Next, ask children to draw penguins—each should draw and color the same number of penguins as the number that he/she chose.

4. Finally, when all the pictures are done, line them up on a board or on the floor, and ask children to help count all the penguins put together. Write the number on the board: “Our March of the Penguins Included _______ Penguins.”
Furthermore
Play the March of the Penguins game on the National Geographic Kids web site.
