ACTIVITY
Growing by the Foot

Preschool children like to think about ways they are growing. This activity is helpful in showing the preschool child how the size of their foot has changed.
Curriculum Area
Science
Before You Start
Send home a note to parents asking them to trace and cut out the size of their child’s footprint when they were a baby.
Let's Begin
1. Have the children bring out the size of their foot when they were babies. Invite them to take off their shoes and socks. Have them step on the footprint. Talk about how the size and shape of their foot has changed. Help each child trace and cut out the size of his foot now. Encourage them to compare footprints and talk about how they have changed.
Furthermore
Have the children glue each footprint onto a piece of paper. Write “growing by the foot” on the top of the paper. Laminate and give it to child as a keepsake.
