ACTIVITY
Camping Under the Stars

An Activity for Preschoolers
Babies love the feel of paint and they love faces. In this project, they’ll especially enjoy seeing a photo of themselves looking back at them!
Curriculum Area
Art and Fine Motor
Before You Start
Ask parents to send in photos of their babies that can be used for the project. Cut yellow paper into triangles about 5-6” high and glue at the bottom center of the blue paper. This is the tent. Cut a circle or half circle with the rest of the yellow paper for the moon and glue in a top corner of the blue paper. Cut the image of each child out of the photo and set aside.
Let's Begin
1. Encourage each child to touch the paint with a fingertip and to enjoy the gooiness.

2. Bounce the finger up and down on the blue paper, all around the yellow tent and moon. These are the stars.

3. Wipe child’s finger with damp paper towel. Allow paint to dry.

4. Glue the photo of child in center of the yellow tent.
Furthermore
If a staff member has a Polaroid they’d like to use for the project, by all means take the photos of the children yourselves.
