ACTIVITY
Best of All

Babies will respond to your voice and movements in this rhyming game. Infants quickly learn to anticipate when a simple sequence is repeated.
Curriculum Area
Language
Before You Start
Sit the infant on your lap facing you. Newborns can lie down as you lean over them.
Let's Begin
1. Recite the following rhyme:

Some families are BIG (hold baby’s arms out big)
Some families are small (bring hands together)
But I love my family
Best of all! (tickle baby’s tummy)

2. Use your voice to show big and small.

3. After repeating a few times, pause before “best of all.” Watch to see if baby reacts before you tickle her.
Furthermore
Substitute family members for the work family in the third line. Repeat with baby loving mommy, daddy, and others the “best of all.”
