ACTIVITY
Creepy-Crawly Creatures

This activity offers experience with both cross-lateral movement and a low level in space. It can even help foster empathy for creatures.
Before You Start
Ask the children to name some animals that move along or very near the ground. Then talk about some of their characteristics, particularly the way they move. (If the children have trouble with this, you can suggest some yourself.) Possible animals include snakes, lizards, chameleons, alligators and crocodiles, and seals.
Let's Begin
1. You can either invite the children to move like their favorite of the animals mentioned, or you can call out the name of each creature, one at a time, challenging the children to move like it does.
Furthermore
Authenticity is not as important here as the opportunity to experience cross-lateral movement. As long as the children are crawling and creeping, allow them to depict each animal according to their own interpretations.
