| Feeling special begins with self-awareness (that sense of I), and a great starting point for self-awareness is body-parts identification. Of course, any time you give a child your undivided attention, you’re making her feel special! |

Simply explain that, when you call out the name of a body part, you want her to touch that part.
| |
1. Begin with a slow, rhythmic chant that gently moves the child down and up, as you call out heads, bellies, toes, and then reverse the order.
2. Once the child is experiencing success with this, and mix up the order of body parts.
3. Then add knees to the mix (heads, bellies, knees, and toes). |

| Vary the tempo at which you call out the body parts, or start out slowly and gradually accelerate the tempo. The faster you go, the harder your toddler will laugh! |
