ACTIVITY
Dinoramas

Kids will create prehistoric scenes using a shoe box and dinosaurs they make themselves!
Before You Start
Have each child bring in an old shoebox. This project will take two to three sessions to complete.
Let's Begin
1. Children decide which dinosaur they will make for their dinorama. (Make sure each child knows the dinosaur must be small enough to fit into the box.)

2. While dinosaurs are drying, have children paint the inside of the boxes.

3. Turn boxes on one side, so they are open to the front, with the box bottom as the back wall of their scene.

4. Have students place rocks, stems, leaves, etc. into the foreground of their scene. Use modeling clay or glue to attach decorations.

5. After dinosaurs are dry, have children paint them with acrylic craft paints.

6. Add dinosaurs to scenes and display!
Furthermore
Have the children label their dinoramas with the name of their dinosaur. They can also write a short fact sheet with such information as the average size of their dinosaur, how long ago it lived, and dietary habits.
