ACTIVITY
Gingerbread Boy

This classic tale is ideal for the youngest listeners. Toddlers can create their own gingerbread man and play along.
Curriculum Area
Art and Fine Motor Skills
Before You Start
Tell the story of the gingerbread man or read one of the many versions available. A good choice for toddlers is The Gingerbread Man by Karen Schmidt. If you have a longer book, you can paraphrase the story.
Let's Begin
1. Have toddlers finger paint on a piece of construction paper. Encourage them to cover the paper.

2. After it dries, cut a simple gingerbread shape from each.

3. Let the children add raisins for eyes and buttons.

4. At circle time let the toddlers practice running “as fast as the can” with their gingerbread men.
Furthermore
Add cinnamon and ginger to your standard Play-do recipe and provide toddler with cookie cutters to make gingerbread men. You could also bake real gingerbread together.
