 |
| | | This is an activity to use at any grade level from preschool to 6th. |
| | Goals | | To create a long-lasting memory for Valentine’s Day. |
| | | | | Before You Start | | You will need two feet of clear contact paper per child (18” wide), valentines, glitter, hearts cut from construction paper and markers. |
| | Let’s Begin
| | 1. Give each child one foot of the clear contact paper with the corners turned back to stick to their desk.
2. Instruct each child to decorate their placemat with their valentines and with glitter, hearts and markers (be sure to include their name somewhere).
3. When finished decorating put the other foot of clear contact paper on top and it becomes an instant placemat!
Note: To add extra color, you can place a piece of construction paper in a thematic color or contrasting color as a backing piece, and place the art materials on top of that, then "sandwich" the whole thing in contact paper. Also, you can practice scissor skills by encouraging the children to cut fun color scraps and place them like bits of confetti at a border! |
| | Furthermore
| | | This craft can also be easily adapted for other holidays. |
