I am a student at the University of southern Queensland in Australia. I was amazed at the attitude of a fellow student who had worked in childcare and decided had decided to study primary school teaching over early childhood because she had not wanted to be a babysitter all her life. I believe this type of attitude comes from students who have not be in a positon to act as a 'professional'. That is to have the decision making power or to have any input in programming within the centre.
