In my program I have several families that do not need child care for the summer session for various reasons including employment and the desire to have children attend different camp programs that provide activities that are different from programs that we offer.

What we do is run to distinct programs which consist of a 10 month "regular" school year and a 2 month summer program. Tuition is based on a school year amount which is then broken into 10 equal payments to be paid from Sept 1 to June 1.

Clients pre-enroll for the fall paying a $100.00 deposit to hold their space for the fall should they choose not to come for the summer. If they don't return they lose the deposit.

People coming for the summer pay the regular tuition amount plus an additional activity fee to cover extra special activity and events of the summer session.

Advertise as a "preschool summer camp" to fill your spaces for the summer session.

During summer I always have staff who want time off (no paid vacation during summer) and this gives me a chance to have teachers work with other age groups.

I have done my programs in this way for the last 15 years and never "lose money" I do break even some years, but mostly I make money.

You can contact me if you would like more info on how we handle this program Susan
