Hold the book for children to see. I sit on a chair and gather them around my legs and feet. Make it cozy. Sometimes I let kids take turns sitting on my lap while I read to the group. THey look forward to their own turns. Choose books that have lots of repetition and a good character. A surprise at the ending is always good! My friend, Leah Rood, at Gryphon House (ghbooks.com) puts together a lits of suggested perfect books for preschoolers, to be read outloud. You could contact her at ===leah@ghbooks.com and ask to have something mailed to you regarding her recommendations.
Read to children everyday. Repeat favorite books. Repeating is a great way to learn, to appreciate, to get the learning into the heart.
Email me directly and we can chat more, if you like.
