Subject: 3 year old has stopped eating

Hi, Does anyone have any useful suggestions for this problem? My 3 1/2 year old son stopped eating solid foods almost two weeks ago. He choked on a piece of bread, ate the rest of his meal, then ate for the following week. After a week he developed a sore throat and has since then refused to chew ANY solid food or swallow. He has been living on yogurt, milkshakes, gatorade and milk. My wife and I have tried everything. We let him help prepare his meals, we have ignored it, then assured him everything is ok and he will be fine. His doctor saw him and told him he did not have a sore throat any longer, but he keeps saying that his throat hurts! He is just scared from the choking incident and the sore throat brought back that scare. How long does this last? Has any doctor suggested anything helpful on this board? His doctor told us to let him eat what he wants until he is ready. This is not reassuring for us. What three year old doesn't want to live on milkshakes? HELP! David
