Subject: I work at a group home

Personally I think you are over reacting. This is a very common problem with children around your daughters age. Most of them can not help it. It can have something to do with your child's development - physically or emotionally. Currently I work at a group home that houses eight kids at a time around you daughters age. I'd say two out of the eight have a recurring problem of this and many of the eight have a problem every now and then. I've worked here for five years and the kids only stay a year. So I'm basing this on more than just eight kids. This is a very common problem that no one talks about. Basically, dont make your daughter feel ashamed about it. If she cant control it and 95 percent of the time they cant - shaming will only make it worse and contribute to more problems. With that said I would punish her for not telling you that the protective sheet is messed up. Even though she's just nine, she needs to start learning responsibility and take care of her accidents.
