Even if your child is not a bedwetter, there may be a time when he or she may be very sick and not able to get out of bed to get to the bathroom in time. And yes having rubber pants and/or a rubber sheet would really save a thousand dollar mattress. My mom always had one on her bed when she was pregnant with my sister (in case her water broke).
