I'm really surprised about this debate. I thought all child care centres, like mine, have the rule that you staff must wear closed in shoes all day all year. This is a OH&S; and work cover issue. Eight years ago when I first worked in child care I used to go barefoot on hot days and I miss that (I particularly hate wearing shoes in the sand pit) but times have changed drammatically.
