My 8-year-old wont eat!
It gives me some comfort to know that this is not completely uncommon. My son is just getting over strep throat and says that he cannot eat because he's afraid that he will choke. He is a worrier to begin with, but this is the most disturbing thing we have gone through with him. I am very concerned. We tell him that he has to eat and try to point out that he has never choked before and that his father and I both know what to do if someone chokes, but he just sits there and cries. He chewed the whites of a hard-boiled egg for over 20 minutes the other day before he finally swallowed it. I am going to call the pediatrician tomorrow, but I am really worried. He has even run into the bathroom to spit the food out a few times because he just couldn't bring himself to swallow it.
