It is so difficult to pay those that really do the work what the are really worth. With the regulations that you have to stick to and the offerings as far as an employer and the type of hours - which no body wants to work - it's hard for an employer to really make a living at running a daycare center. It's not that we don't want to pay our staff more, it's that we really can't. Ratios and training and vacation and... It all adds up faster than the money comes in.
