11 year old son still pooping in pants
I have an 11 year old who still poops in his pants. He was diagnosed with ADHD at age 5 and that is how we found it. The doctor said children w/ ADHD cannot control their focus and attention but they can control their bowels so they poop or pee on themselves to feel like they "have control" over something. Not to mention the fact that he was bouncing off the walls, the floors and everything else. Once we got him on medication he leveled out and stopped but the last few months he has started again. But we are also in the process of adjusting his meds. I know alot of people including me don't want to have their child on medication but it was a last ditch effort and worked. The doctor told me to take my son as soon as he got home from school and give him a cup of apple cider, not apple juice. Then make him go sit on the toilet until he pooped. When I did my little 5 year old angel turned into the devil incarnate. He was so mad the he threw his shoe at me. The doctor said it was because I took away control of the one thing he had control over. Now his excuse is that he's afraid to poop in the toilet because he doesn't want to stop it up and get in trouble. We are working on that but the doctor found nothing physically wrong with him. I hope this helps somebody out there. I know it's not an answer most people want but it an an option to look into.
