any advise would be appreciated
ive been teaching for 5 years and feel like i want to do more, without the constraints of the classrrom envornment, i.e. more laidback environment. although there are so many critical things kids learn in school, there are critical life skills and details that fall to the waistside. i've been toying with the notion of opening a before school/afterschool center ages 5-12. i'd focus on homework afterschool, any project parents don't have as much time to focus on as they'd like, and tutoring services well. being a certified teacher i'd be able to be an extension to their learning day. i'd also like to offer extra stuff....art, etc. all stuff that teachers dont have enough time for during a regular school day. can anyone offer suggestions. i'm in ny. and haven't started submitting paperwork to the state as of yet. i plan to rent a space, but i'm scared about making a profit... what do u think? i'm young and this has been a thorn in my side for a while (the idea). it's a huge risk, no medical benefits...no set salary. help, advise from some pros...
