8 year old soiling pants
Hi, My son was diagnosed with encopresis (spelling) when he was 9. He always had trouble with eliminating becoming constipated very easily. It wasn't until we changed pediatricians who actually diagnosed him with this common (sort of) medical issue. What happens is that when children become constipated, the sphincter muscle looses its ability to send a message to the brain that they need to eliminate -- which actually makes the constipation worse. They become "blocked" in essence and begin to "leak" or stain their . After many months of watching his diet (enough fiber, water and yes, mineral oil) we were able to 'clean out' his system. Talk to your pediatrician about this particular issue....encopresis. Hope this helps.
