24 hour care
I agree there is a need for outside of normal hours care for families - specifically shift workers. A concern that i have is just how long the child will be in care - ie if Mum starts her shift at the hospital at 10pm - then the child is dropped off by 9pm (certainly not play time) then Mum needs care for the following morning at the very least while she sleeps - does this mean that some children will spend 16 hours a day in care? while mum works and sleeps. There are so many variables. In all honesty i think a childcare centre should provide educational expererinces throughout the day but through the night it would be a babysitting service, are you really going to offer playdoh at 2am when Jonny wakes - of course not, the best you an do is offer the most home like/loving enviroment possible for the child to feel secure enough to spend the night.
