I have an 8 year old foster son that has been with me for about 1 1/2 years now. He has PTSD and when he first came to me he was wetting and soiling six to eight times a day. After all this time, the soiling has decreased to one or two times a month, but the wetting is just continual. There are many days when he doesn't even use a toilet unless constantly being reminded, and even then he still wets. He wears pull-ups full time. I've done the alarm, rewards, medical exams, you name it. I've been told it's behavioral and it will stop when he wants it to. This is so frustrating. He sabotages special events, swimming, sleepovers...you name it. Does anyone have any ideas? The thing that is hardest for me is that he will sit in the wet pull-up for hours. He never initiates self-care without being told. Any advice would be appreciated.
