Wow!! I would never "lable" a child, without a series of professional evaluations. There seriously are many disabilities out there that have reached very high levels. A true "disability" is not the fault of the parent, is all that I was suggesting. I know this, because I have researched and work with children who have such disabilities, and believe me, unless it is of absolute necessity, drugs are not a part of the "therapy" we choose to use. Intervention, as well as speech, occupational, sensory, and ABA (applied behavior yze) are our preferred method, along with social cards, words, ect. If you have a classroom with children who display inappropriate behavior, sometimes there is a different reason, rather than blaming-and most certainly, a team approach to structural conseqences, would be the first place to start.
