Anyone else know any good music for kids? I particularly like Laurie Berkner (from Noggin's "Jack's Big Music Show"). I got this video and it's just so cute I had to pass it on.

Her website says she has a DVD coming out next month on Valentines Day. How cute!

I have this friend from church named Mrs. L. Marks, she works with many children in our area and enjoys music. Whenever our church hosts the Interfaith Hospitality Network [IHN] guests (homeless families), every Friday she brings her song sheets and musical instruments [toys of course, sticks, jingle bells, egg shakers, etc.]. Her email address is 'musicalparenting@aol.com'. We're from Monmouth County New Jersey, but if you're not from that area, I'm sure that she could give you some advice and/or song lists through email. -Teddy G.

Hi, for young kids, certainly Laurie is fantastic. I'd also recommend you check out an artist named Sue Schnitzer...fantastic for young children.
I write about Kids Music at my blog, "Head, shoulders, knees, and all that". Please feel free to stop by: http://simplesongs.blogs.com/

Awesome- sounds great. I like when people use music to help kids develop skills/learn through song. She sounds like a good person.

MY TURN YOUR TURN: Songs for Building Social Skills by Cathy Bollinger. This is a great CD for the house and especially for all of the hours we are in the car. There is a song for saying hello and one for asking if the child can play. Really songs for lots of situations that kids need to learn how to act with others. Cathy has a wonderful voice and she has some really cute sounding kids singing with her.

I found out from Laurie's website that she'll be performing in NYC at Tower Records' Lincoln Center store Thursday! Says she goes on at 6:00 pm and plays for 15 minutes then autographs your CDs and DVDs.
My kids love the new DVD, this will be a good treat for them to see Laurie in person. Are any other NYC moms going?
p.s. Her webpage with her record label mentions a Today Show performance on March 10th if any interested moms can't make it to the in-store.

Try Will Hale and the Tadpole Band.
It's my cousin and he's very popular in the St Paul area.

Hi all,
If you know of Cathy Bollinger http://www.rivannamusic.com, you will be happy to hear of her 8th CD, Alphabet Jam. True to her style of varied rhythms and great instrumentation, along with her soothing voice and additional adorable kids' voices, this one is a winner! She uses repetition of sounds to reinforce concepts and both kids and parents (and teachers) love it.
Go take a listen....you will love it too!
Elly
