Subject:Opening an early childhood learning center
|
I am looking to open an early childhood learning center and was wondering if anyone that has opened a center would not be shy about informing me the total investment they put forth to run the center. I am trying to determine whether or not what I have budgeted is enough or if I should take out a loan.

It will really depend on the location and the size of the facility as to your total investment. I would check with your state regulations to see what square footage you need for each child and then move forward with caculating from there. Here is a general rule of thumb - infant rooms usually lose money, toddler rooms usually break even, and preschool rooms create income - due to the ratios you need to maintain. If you are looking for state information in your area check out www.cdaclass.org and click on their state page - they have information on all states in the US.

Were you able to find out any additional information. Do you mind telling me what state you are located in?
I too am in the process of looking into doing daycare at home with the hope of progressing to either a develpment or learning center.

does anybody out there know what the square footage allowance per child is in the state of Pennsylvania. I have a small daycare in my home and I am thinking about adding more kids but don't know if I have enough space. Also how many do you have to have before a license is necessary.
