    Subject:aggressive behavior!

Hi, I am a preschool teacher, I have three year olds in my class. There is this one child that he always hits the children, sometimes for no reason at all. He even pulled out some hair of another child. What concerns me is that when he goes to hit he hits with anger he has this real mean look on his face. I have tried many different approaches. Now I could use some advice on how I can help this child.

There needs to be consequences for his actions. Does this child hit as he walks by someone? etc. I would want to find out what is going on at home? There still has to be consistant consequences.

    Subject:What have you done?

There are so many ways to help a child with aggression. Unfortunately, I don't know what kinds of things you have tried to try and help. Has anyone done a running record on this child? Find out what leads to his hitting? What's his speech like? Is he able to communicate with his peers or anyone else? Are people just telling him to STOP hitting? Great theory, but never works. Give him alternatives. Is there any dough out for him to punch and kneed if he's feeilng upset? Do you have a quiet corner for him to retreat to if he needs alone time? What kind of environment do you have? Center? How many children?
