It would be ideal to have a kindergarten classroom with 20 or less, but the reality of it is that there are often 25 to 28 per session.
When the numbers are above 20, how many kindergarten teachers have benefited (or not) with the use of a full time classroom aide? Has your classroom aide needed to have any courses in early childhood or is it someone who just fills the position with little to no early childhood training?
Another question. . .is it better to encourage a school district to keep kindergarten classes to under 20? What are the alternatives to the problem if the district does not have the luxury of space to meet the needs of smaller classroom?
Parents are wonderful and "free" helping hands, but are not always consistent or non judgemental of children in the classroom.
Any ideas or feedback would be of interest. Thank you!
