I can understand your starvation for more information from your children on what they have done during play. I have found the same problem.
One way we encourage the children to expand AND develop their questioning is we get the children to ask each other the questions. First the child will say what they have done ie "built a castle" then we have 2 children who have raised their hand ask that child a question about their castle. Has worked well for us. Hope you give it a go. At first you will get the children asking "basic" questions like "do you like it", but as the children get better at their questioning and explaining, as to does the questions and explanations.
