ACTIVITY
The Mirror Game

When a child looks in a mirror, she sees herself. Her features are unique and special. This is a simple activity that will develop self-concept and self-awareness, steps that are essential to building self-confidence.
Curriculum Area
Social/ Emotional and Gross Motor
Before You Start
Talk to the children about mirrors and how they reflect images. Where in their homes do they have mirrors? What kinds of activities might they perform while looking in a mirror? Invite the children to get into pairs.
Let's Begin
1. One partner begins by performing simple movements, which his partner copies exactly – acting like his reflection in the mirror!

2. After a while, partners switch roles.
Furthermore
If necessary, encourage the children to create different body shapes, to use various body parts, levels in space, nonlocomotor skills (bending, stretching, twisting), and tempos.
