Subject:Summer Teaching
|
I am a mother of two children - one is 2 years old and the other is 7 years old. I would like to have a "mock" school for them this summer, but I find it very challenging to have a developmentally appropriate curriculum for them. I do not want the 2 year become bored if the curriculum is too advance and I do not want the 7 year to be the same if the curriculum is not advance. Can anyone offer any suggestions for teaching the two age groups at home during the summer? Thanks

I think it's wonderful that you want to fill your children's summer with fun and learning (most parents would be happy just sitting them in front of a tv). Instead of thinking of it as a "school" try teaching the children through play. Figure out exactly what you want to expose them to throughout the summer, then break it down into different sections that can be explored such as science and nature, math, literacy, dramatic play, art, gross and fine motor activities, etc. Your two year old will benefit greatly from learning through play and it will be a nice break for your seven year old from work books and sitting at a desk.

I am a new teacher and I am teaching the two year old classroom. Do you have any sites to recomend for with ideas for activties. I am also looking for decorating ideas as well well for the class room. I am teaching curriculum out of High reach learning and the theme is under the summer sky. I am also looking for ideas with this lesson as well.
I am also in need of a lesson plan sheet a good one that I can stick by.
